Eight Fins’ swimmers were back at the Michael Woods Centre on 10/11 June 2023 participating in the Warrender End of Season Short Course Meet.

The swimmers competed in a total of 56 swims and although the performances were a bit mixed, they managed to achieve 31 PBs, some of which were very good, and all swimmers managed at least one PB.

There was only one movement and one entry to the Fins’ all time top 50 rankings. However, the other 29 PBs brought the swimmers that bit closer to getting onto the rankings, with two being very close.

There were no medals awarded at the meet, which is unusual.

The top achiever for Fins was 11 year old Etan Pate who gained three 2nd place finishes, plus a further seven top 10 placings.

Ethan was swimming in the 11/12 years boys age group and he gained second place in the 50m breaststroke, 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle; He finished 4th in the 100m freestyle; 5th in the 50m freestyle; 6th in both the 100m breaststroke and 200m individual medley: 8th in the 50m butterfly; and 9th in both the 50m and 100m backstroke. An entry to the top 50 rankings was achieved by Irys when she recorded the highest PB by a Fins swimmer of 11.80 seconds in her 200m butterfly, which enters her in 50th place. The swimmer who moves out is Eilidh Child who set her time at Kirkcaldy in February1998. Eilidh went on to win a medal at the Scottish Schools Swimming Championships, but in the more recent past will be better known as Eilidh Doyle who won a total of 17 track medals at Olympic, World, Commonwealth and European level.
