East District Summer Sizzler – 20 June 26
Nine Fins’ swimmers competed in the East District Summer Sizzler meet held at the Royal Commonwealth Pool on 20th June 2026
The swimmers competed in a total of 42 swims and returned a very good 86% improvement rate. As this was a long course meet there were a number of changes to the Fins’ long course top 50 (or will be eventually) rankings. There were 16 improvements, 7 new entries, and 13 no changes recorded.
In terms of achievement there were two 1st, two 2nd and four 3rd placings plus a further fourteen swims gaining a top 10 finish.
Top fins’ swimmer in terms of achievement was Elliot Blair, 12 years male, who won his 100m backstroke, was 2nd in his 200m individual medley, 3rd in both his 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle, 4th in his 50m butterfly, and 13th in his 100m breaststroke.
In his 200m individual medley Elliot recorded a 3.21 second PB, but this was not sufficient to move him up the rankings and remains in 25th place. Similarly, in his 100m breaststroke he recorded a 1.03 second PB, but again this resulted in no change and he remains in 26th place.
Fins’ other winner was Cole Gray,14 years male, who won his 100m backstroke, 3rd in both his 50m breaststroke and 5om backstroke, 6th in his 100m butterfly, 12th in his 100m freestyle, and 15th in his 50m freestyle.
Cole had a total of four no changes. In his 100m butterfly he recorded a 0.81 second PB, but remains in 20th place, in his 50m backstroke a 0.21 second PB means he remains in 17th place, in his 100m backstroke he remains in 20th place after recording a 0.11 second PB, and in his 50m freestyle it was a 0.10 second PB that produced a no change situation and he remains in 22nd place. Unfortunately for Cole, in his 50m breaststroke, despite recording a 0.69 second PB he actually dropped down the rankings from 20th to 21st.
Caleb Gray, 15 years male, was 2nd in his 200m individual medley, 5th in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke, 6th in the 100m freestyle, 7th in
both the 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke, 9th in the 50m backstroke, 10th in the 50m butterfly, and 15th in the 50m freestyle.
Caleb had five improvements in the rankings and four no changes, despite recording PBs. In his 59m breaststroke a 2.71 second PB moved him from 19th to 16th, in his 100m breaststroke he moved from 15th to 14th having recorded a 2.41 second PB, in his 100m freestyle a 2.05 second PB moved him from 23rd to 20th, and two smaller PBs of 0.43 seconds and 0.12 seconds in his 50m and 100m backstroke moved him from 16th to 15th and 17th to 16th respectively.
Caleb’s no changes were in his 100m butterfly where he recorded a 2.65 second PB bur remains in 18th place, a 1.72 second PB in his 200m individual medley leaves him in 16th place, in his 50m freestyle a 1.26 second PB means he stays in 20th place, and in his 50 fly he also remains in 20th place having recorded a 0,86 second PB.
Jack Campbell, 14 years male, was 4th in his 100m freestyle, 5th in his 50m butterfly, 6th in his 50m backstroke, and 8th in both his 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.
Jack improved his position in four events and his other swim was a no change. In his 50m breaststroke he recorded a 2.56 second PB and that moved him from 23rd to 20th, in his 100m freestyle a 2.29 second PB moved him from 25th to 24th, a 1.08 second PB in his 50m butterfly moved him from 22nd to 21st, and in his 50m backstroke a 0.39 second PB moved him from 19th to 18th. Jack’s no change swim was his 50m freestyle where he recorded a 0.90 second PB but remains in 21st place.
Sadie Paton, 14 years female, was 17th in both her 50m and100m butterfly, 23rd in her 50m breaststroke, 31st in her50m backstroke, 33rd in her 100m freestyle, and 37th in her 50m freestyle.
In her 50m butterfly Sadie recorded the second largest PB by a Fins’ swimmer of 10.65 seconds, which gave her movement up the rankings from 32nd to 28th. Sadie also recorded the third largest PB of 8.77 seconds, this time in her 100m freestyle and that moved her from 43rd to 40th. In her 50m freestyle Sadie recorded a 0.75 second PB moving her from 33rd to 31st, and in her 50m breaststroke she moves from 28th to 26th with a 0.62 second PB. In her 100m butterfly Sadie recorded a 2.95 second PB which was a no change to the rankings an she remains in 39th place/
Leyton Neilsen, 12 years male, was 23th in both his 50m and 100m breaststroke, 39th in his 50m backstroke, and 34th in his 100m freestyle.
Leyton had three 1st time long course swims and these are new entries, plus one no change.
Leyton’s highest entry was in his 50m backstroke, entering the rankings in 23rd place. In his 50m breaststroke he enters in 25th place, and in his 100m breaststroke he enters in 27th place.
In his 100m freestyle Leyton recorded the 5th largest PB of 5.04 seconds, but that was not enough to have an impact on the rankings and he remains in 31st place.
Mark Sinilov, 13 years male, had one swim, the 50m butterfly, where he finished in 27th place. This was also Mark’s 1st long course swim in this event and he enters the rankings in 26th place.
Chelsea Walker, 13 years female, was 31st in her 100m freestyle, 34th in her 100m backstroke, 36th in her 100m butterfly, and 46th in her 50m freestyle.
In her 100m freestyle Chelsea recorded the largest PB of 11.18 seconds which gave her a 9-place improvement in the rankings from 45th to 36th.
In her 50m backstroke she also recorded the 4th largest PB of 5.16 seconds and this moved her from 34th to 32nd in the rankings.
Chelsea also had two 1st time long course swims and in her 50m freestyle she entered the rankings in 36th place, and in 100m backstroke she entered the rankings in 38th place.
Eilidh Needham, 12 years female, had one swim, her 50m breaststroke, finishing in 37th place. This was also a 1st time long course swim in this event and Eilidh enters the rankings in 37th place.
Really good performances from all the swimmers again and good to see the long course rankings expanding a little bit with the new entries.
