The Scottish long course season ended a few weeks ago but what did Fins’ swimmers achieve during this period in terms of the top 25 long course age group rankings?

There has been a slight change since last year with 5 girls and 6 boys achieving a top 25 finish, one less than last year, and four fewer swims in the rankings this year, 70 in total, 36 of which were in the top 10.

Top ranked swimmer is 12 year old Millie Whytock with 2 second and 3 third ranked swims and a total of 13 top 25 swims, 11 of them in the top 10.

Millie’s 2nd ranked swims were in the 50m freestyle and 200m butterfly, while her 3rd ranked swims were in 50m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 100m butterfly, and 200m individual medley.

In her 50m freestyle she is 1.37 seconds behind Charlie Hoare of Warrender baths, and in the 200m butterfly she is 9.94 seconds behind Grace Taylor of Alford Otters.

In her 50m backstroke she is 0.76 seconds behind 1st ranked swimmer Emmeline Eales of Guilford, in the 200m backstroke she is 5.45 seconds behind 1st, again Emmeline Eales, In the 100m butterfly she is 2.30 seconds behind the leader Charlie Hoare, and finally in the 200m individual medley she is 15.89 seconds behind Charlie Hoare

Millie’s other rankings are 4th in the 100m freestyle, 4th in the 200m freestyle, 4th in the 400m freestyle, 4th in the 100m backstroke, 5th in the 50m butterfly, and 12th in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

Next was 11year old Elliot Blair who had one 2nd and four 4th ranked swims. He had a total of 10 swims in the top 25, 9 of which were in the top 10.

Elliot’s 2nd place was in the 200m backstroke, and his four 3rd places were in the 100m backstroke, 50m and 100m breaststroke, and the 200m individual medley.

In his 200m Backstroke he is 4.06 seconds behind the top ranked swimmer, Erik Kiszel of Bucksburn.

In his 100m backstroke he is 4.45 seconds behind Erik who is again the top ranked swimmer, in his 50m breaststroke he is 6.07 seconds behind the top ranked swimmer Cameron M’cartney, of Bridge O Don, in the 100m breaststroke he is 7.93 seconds behind the top ranked swimmer, Murray Ribertson, Heart of Midlothian, and in the 200m individual medley he is 7.62 seconds behind the top ranked swimmer, Murray Robertson.

Elliot’s other rankings are 6th in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, and 100m butterfly, 7th in the 100m freestyle, and 12th in the 50m butterfly.

Lilian Blair, 13 years female, had one 3rd place, in the 100m butterfly, 1.58 seconds behind top ranked swimmer, Emily Taylor of Lanark.

Lilians other rankings are 4th in the 200m individual medley, 5th in the 50m freestyle and 100m breaststroke, 6th in the 100m freestyle, 7th in the 400m individual medley, 8th in the 200m butterfly, 9th in the 200m breaststroke and 50m butterfly, 10th in the 200m freestyle, 11th in the 50m breaststroke, 12th in the 100m backstroke, 14th in the 50m backstroke, and 15th in the 200m backstroke.

Kristin Mackay, 17 years female, is 4th in the 800m and 1500m freestyle, 7th in the 400m freestyle, 8th in the 400m individual medley, 19th in the 200m individual medley, and 21st in the 200m breaststroke.

Eva Watson, 14 years female, is 10th in the 1500m freestyle, 11th in the 800m freestyle, and 14th in the 400m freestyle.

Cole Gray, 13 years male, is 12th in the 200m backstroke, 16th in the 400m freestyle, 20th in the 200m butterfly, 21st in the 200m freestyle, 24th in the 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly, and 25th in the 50m backstroke

Ethan Pate, 14 years male, is 13th in the 800m freestyle, 15th in the 1500m freestyle, and 23rd in the 400m individual medley.

Jack Campbell, 13 years male, is 16th in the 200m butterfly.

Irys Blair, 15 years female, is 17th in the 50m backstroke, 23rd in the 100m backstroke, and 24th in the 200m backstroke.

Caleb Gray, 14 years male, is 17th in the 1599m freestyle, 23rd in the 800m freestyle, and 25th in the 200m butterfly.

Harvey Whytock, 15 years male is 25th in the 200m butterfly.

Well done to all the swimmers who made a top 25 ranking and lets hope there are more swimmers aspiring to make a top 25 Scottish ranking.

There is still a lot of improvement to go but it can be achieved if you believe you can do it coupled with ‘’Labore and Scientia’ – hard work and understanding.
