Kirkcaldy swimmer, Arran Stowe, from Fins Competitive Swim Club had his best Open Water Competition to date last weekend when he contested three swims in the Scottish National Open Water Championships held over two days at Loch Venachar, near Callander.

Arran, who swam in the 17 to 24 years age group, returned with a total of 6 medals including a Scottish 17/24 National Open Water Championship Title for the 2K event, his first ever national title.

Arran was actually second in the 2K event but as the winner, Tom Robinson, is English, from Ulverston Swimming Club, in the Lake District, Arran is awarded the National Title and gold medal.

He also won two Scottish National age group Silver medals and they came in the 5K and 10K events. The winner in both events was an Anglo-scot and Scottish International swimmer Jamie McCaffray from the Modernians Swimming Club in Bedford.

His other three medals came in the Open Competition where the results of all seven age groups, up to 55 years and over, are combined and Arran won silver in both the 2K and 10K and a bronze in the 5K.

Following the Championships Arran is still leading in the Scottish Grand Prix with just one event to come, which will be held in Loch Ken, Dumfries and Galloway in September.
