In addition to the Fife Leagues, seven Fins’ swimmers also opted to compete in the REN 96 Pre-SNAGS Meet, held at the ON-X Leisure Centre in Linwood.
The main purpose in competing in the REN 96 meet was to try to secure qualification for SNAGS, and while not everyone was successful the improvement in times, recorded so far this year, continued.
Overall the swimmers contested 12 swims recording a total of 11 PBs, or 92% improvement rate. Seven of the twelve swims had an impact on the Fins’ rankings and achieved 5 – wins, 1- 2nd, and 2 – 3rd placings, plus a further 3 top 10 finishes.
Top swimmer for Fins, in a number of criteria was Eva Watson, 14 years female, who won her 800m freestyle and was 2nd in the 1500m freestyle. Eva recorded the largest PB in her 1500m freestyle of 29.89 seconds which moved her to the highest point in Fins’ rankings, moving from 6th place to 5th. Eva reduced her 800m freestyle time at EDAG by 21.13 seconds and she reduced it again at the REN 96 Meet by 2.29 seconds which means she moves from 22nd to 20th in the Fins, rankings.
Millie Whytock, 11/13 female, won the 400m individual medley, was 3rd in the 100m butterfly, and 4th in the 200m backstroke. In the 400m individual medley a 6.22 second PB moves Millie from 43rd to 40th in the rankings.
Caleb Gray, 14 male, won the 800m freestyle, was 3rd in the 400m individual medley, and 5th in the 400m freestyle. In his 400m individual medley a 0.86 second PB moves Caleb from 47th to 46th, and a 3.47 second PB in his 400m freestyle enters Caleb in the rankings in 49th place. The swimmer who drops out on this occasion is Gary Simpson, who set his time at Whitburn in April 1989. The new entry time is now 4 minutes 51.72 seconds.
Adam Selbie, 15 male, won his 400m individual medley, with the second largest PB by a Fins’ swimmer of 14.71 seconds and this moves Adam from 34th place to 20th.
Ethan Pate, 14 male, won his 400m freestyle, with the 3rd largest PB 0f 9.37 seconds and moves Ethan from 49th to 37th in the rankings.
Cole Gray, 13 male, was 5th in his 400m freestyle, recording the 4th largest PB of 10.18 seconds.
The remaining swimmer was Finnley McDonald, 16/O male, who was 16th in the 200m freestyle.
