The second event for rankings to be published is the 400m Individual Medley, reckoned by some as the most difficult of all the indoor swimming events. This is mainly because the swimmer needs to have a good degree of proficiency in all four individual strokes. It is also reckoned that a strong breaststroke leg is an advantage provided the swimmer is competent in the other three strokes.

In the current group of swimmers Erin Taylor is very well placed in 2nd place, and in the boys’, Mark Scott is in 13th.

Erin is just 4.29 seconds off the club record, which may seem a lot, but in a 400m event it is just over a second per hundred metres.

A similar improvement for Mark would move him into the top 10 in 9th place.

As mentioned last time it becomes more difficult when new swimmers join the rankings and going by the performances at the district age groups it is hopeful that some more of the current group will get on to the ranking.
