Pathway to the Top – 1oo Back

Unfortunately, it is proving too difficult to upload all 50 rankings, male and female, for all the various events to the website. What we will do, therefore, is to continue with more descriptive information starting with the 100m Backstroke.

Top of the girls’ rankings is a relatively recent club record set at the Fife Leagues at the Michael woods Centre in April 2018 by Caitlyn Dodds with a time of 1minute 4.72 seconds.

Any swimmer looking to enter the top 50 needs to beat a time of 1 minute 17.08 seconds set by Leanne Sinclair at Glenrothes in April 1995.

From the current squads, there is only one swimmer in the top 50, Erin Taylor, who sits at 19th place with a time of 1 minute 10.74 seconds, recorded 28 months ago, and a 1 second improvement would see Erin move up to 5th equal place. Not all that far away.

Top of the boys’ rankings is a very good time of 57.35 seconds set by Jordan Lamb at the Scottish National Open Short Course Championships in December 2012. Only two swimmers have so far broken the 1 minute barrier, the other being Kyle Pate, again at the Scottish National Open Short Course Championships, but this time in December 2016.

Any swimmer looking to enter the top 50 needs to beat a time of 1 minute 9.70 seconds, set by Steven Hay, at Kirkcaldy pool away back in November 1986.

Top position in the current boys’ squads is Blair Wardlaw who is currently in 30th place, recorded in February 2020. Also in the top 50 is Mark Scott who is in 44th place, recorded in March 2020, and a 1 second improvement from either swimmer would see Blair move to 25th place and Mark to 40th place.
