Well at least part of Round 1. The Scottish East DistWell at least part of Round 1. The Scottish East District Age Group Championships were being held at the Excite Centre in Bathgate, on 23rd November, but due to an unfortunate incident Round 1 had to be postponed after the morning session. So, we now wait to see when it will be completed.
However, seven fins’ swimmers managed to compete in Session 1, with quite a bit of success.
Congratulations go to Adam Selbie who is the 2025 East District Champion for the 400m Freestyle, male, finishing just outside his PB.
Congratulations also go to Kristin Mackay who won the bronze medal in the 1500m Freestyle, female, again just outside her PB. It was quite a coincidence that both Adam and Kristin exceeded their PBs by exactly the same amount.
The remaining five swimmers all recorded PBs and three were unlucky not to be medal winners.
The largest PB was achieved by Eva Watson, 14 Girls, who was 4th in the 1500m freestyle with a PB of 33.92 seconds which, in turn, moved her from 7th to 6th in the Fins’ top 50 all time rankings.
Cole Gray, 13 boys, was 4th in the 400m freestyle where he achieved an 8.59 seconds PB.
Also, in 4th place in the 14 boys’ 400m freestyle was Ethan Pate, with a 2.89 second PB. This means that Ethan enters the rankings in 49th place, while the swimmer dropping out is Gary Little, who set his time at EDAG in March 1995. The time now required for entry to the rankings is 4 minutes 51.91 seconds.
Caleb Gray, 14 boys, was 6th in the 400m freestyle and did so with the help of Fins’ second largest PB, 1076 seconds Caleb’s time of 4 minutes 53.86 seconds leaves him just shy of entry to the top 50 by 1.95 seconds.
Finnley McDonald, 16 boys, was 14th in the 400m freestyle, despite a 5.02 second PB.
It is now just a matter of time before we know when Round 1 will be completed.
