Thirteen Fins’ swimmers travelled to the other side of the Forth recently to compete in the Haddington 100’s meet, held at the Mercat Gait Pool Prestonpans, and from 38 swims they achieved 15 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals, plus a further 13 top ten placings.

The swimmers turned in some excellent performances but there was no doubt who the most improved swimmer was – Mark Scott – who had Fins’ top three improvements at the meet, and these were 8.32 seconds off his 100m Breaststroke; 6.81 seconds off his 400m Freestyle; and 5.92 seconds off his 100m Freestyle.
Also worthy of a mention is Neža Dolenc-Luznar, who reduced her 100m Breaststroke time by 5.85 seconds.

The four individual strokes were contested over 100m in each age group, plus there was an Open 400m Freestyle and 400m Individual Medley.

Two swimmers won four gold medals each –
Caitlyn Dodds, 14 and over girls, won gold in the Backstroke, Butterfly and Freestyle and the 400m Freestyle. Caitlyn also received some good news in that she is just one of three Fife swimmers to be selected for the 30 strong Scottish East District team to compete in the County Team Championships, Division One, held at the Pond’s Forge Pool, Sheffield..

Erin Taylor, 13 years girls, won gold in the Breaststroke, Butterfly, and Freestyle Erin also won the Open 400m Individual Medley which is quite an achievement for a 13 year old.

Arran Stowe 14/O boys, won gold in Breaststroke, Freestyle, and the 400m Freestyle. Arran also won a silver in the Butterfly.

Esme Lee, 11 years girls, won gold in the Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly. Esme also finished 10th in the 400m Freestyle, which again is a considerable achievement for an 11 year old.

The final gold medal was won by Sophie Juskowiak, 13 years girls, in the Backstroke. In addition, Sophie had a further three 5th placings in the Breaststroke, Butterfly, and Freestyle.

Neža Dolenc-Luznar, 14/O girls, won two silver medals in the Butterfly and Freestyle, and just missed out on a bronze in the Breaststroke, finishing in 4th place.

Mark Scott, 12 years boys, won bronze medal in the and just missed out on another, finishing 4th in the Freestyle, and 6th in the Butterfly. Although he did not finish in the top 10 a 13th place in the Open 400m Free is another very good result for a 12 year old boy.

The final medal for Fins was won by Catherine Comrie, 14/O girls and that was a bronze in the Backstroke, plus a 5th place in the Breaststroke.

Two more swimmers had a top 10 finish and they were – Steven Hardie, 11 years boys, swimming in his first Open meet, when he finished 6th in the Breaststroke, and Eireann Comrie who was 8th in the Breaststroke, and 9th in the Backstroke.

The two remaining swimmers, who despite their best efforts, finished outside the top 10, were Kimberley McCabe and Bethany Michie, both 14/O girls.
