Fins’ swimmers were back in action last Sunday at the Michael Woods Centre where they were competing in the 3rd Round of the Fife League and Fife Novice League. Overall this was a very successful day in both sessions.

In the Fife League 18 swimmers contested 35 swims, with 9 swimmers winning their event, 5 of them being double wins. 8 of the remaining swimmers all gained a top 10 finish.

One swimmer only just missed out on a top 10 finish despite recording Fins largest improvement in the League.

Fern Selbie, 12/13 Girls, reduced her 50m Butterfly by 11.37 seconds. Four other Fins swimmers were in the top 10 for this event.

The next two improvements came from Blair Wardlaw, 14/15 boys, who reduced his 100m Breaststroke by 10.16 seconds and Heidi Mellon, 12/13 girls, who reduced her 50m Butterfly by 5.37 seconds.

The double event winners were:

Kristin Mackay, 9/11 girls, 1st in both the 100m Backstroke and 200m Butterfly

Esme Lee, 12/13 girls, 1st in both the 100m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley

Neža Dolenc-Luznar, 14/15 girls, 1st in both the100m Butterfly and 20m Individual Medley.

Nicole Reynolds, 16/O girls, 1st in both the 100m Breaststroke and 50m Butterfly

Arran Stowe, 16/O boys, 1st in both the 100m Breaststroke and 200m Individual Medley.

The remaining winners were:

Mark Scott, 12/13 boys, 1st – 100m Freestyle; 2nd – 200m Butterfly

Erin Taylor, 14/15 girls, 1st – 200m Butterfly; 2nd – 100m Backstroke

Euan Pate, 16/O boys, 1st – 200m Butterfly, 2nd – 100m Freestyle (breaking the minute for the first time)!

Blair Wardlaw, 14/15 boys, 1st – 100m Breaststroke; 3rd – 200m Individual Medley

 

Swimmers who gained a top 10 placing were:

Erin O’Connor, 16/O girls, 2nd – 100m Backstroke

Kimberley McCabe, 16/O girls, 3rd – 50m Butterfly; 5th – 100m Butterfly

Emelia Zajac, 9/11 girls, 3rd – 50m Butterfly; 6th – 100m Backstroke

Sophie Juskowiak, 14/15 girls, 4th – 200m Individual Medley; 5th – 100m Freestyle

Heidi Mellon, 12/13 girls, 6th – 50m Butterfly; 9th – 100m Breaststroke

Georgia Johnston, 12/13 girls. 9th in both the 50m and 100m Butterfly

Grace Wilson, 12/13 girls, 10th – 50m Butterfly

 

The Novice League swimmers all recorded PBs, one being outstanding when 9 year old Irys Blair reduced her 25m Freestyle time by 19.27 seconds, almost halving her previous best.

The swimmers also recorded their first two wins in this year’s league courtesy of Ava Reid, 9/U girls, who won the 25m Breaststroke, and Adam Selbie, 9/U boys, who also won the 25m Breaststroke.

There were also two second placings and they came from Irys Blair, 9/U girls, in the 25m Freestyle, and Ethan Hardie, 9/U boys, in the 25m Butterfly. Irys also finished 8th in the 50m Butterfly.

Four other swimmers gained a top 10 finish and they were:

Olivia Dutiaume, 10/O girls, 5th – 50m Backstroke

Sophie Young, 10/O girls, 7th – 50m Freestyle

Gabby Keary, 10/O girls, 9th – 50m Breaststroke

Ciaran Burns, 10/O boys, 10th – 50m Butterfly

The remaining two swimmers who just finished outside the top 10 were Diego Franco, and Callan McComskie, both 10/O boys.
