Fins’ swimmers had a very successful day at the Michael Woods Centre last Sunday when they competed in the Fife League, now restored to a Level 2 meet, and the Fife Novice League.

In the Fife League 28 swimmers competed in 52 swims resulting in 17 first placings, 12 second placings, 7 third placings, 10 top 10 finishes, and a new Club record.
The Club record was achieved by Caitlyn Dodds, 15 and over girls, when she recorded a time of 1 minute 4.72 seconds in the 100m Backstroke, reducing her own previous record by 0.70 seconds. The previous record was set at Linwood in November last year. This confirms her place as third ranked in the 16 years girls, in Scotland, for the 100m Backstroke, short course.

The swimmers achieved a very good 79% improvement rate and the 12 swimmers to gain a first placing were –

In terms of improvement there were a number of good PBs but an exceptional one came from Ana Doherty, who reduced her 100m Breaststroke by 19.06 seconds. The next two top improvements came from Esme Leewho reduced her 100m Backstroke by 6.63 seconds and Emma Lorrainsmith who reduced her 100m Freestyle by 6.41 seconds which gave her an 11th place finish.

In the Fife Novice League, 8 swimmers competed in 10 events and returned a 100% improvement rate. There were no winners, but one swimmer Molly Sweeney, 10/O girls, went one better and beat the time band in the 50m Freestyle reducing her previous best time by 4.10 seconds.

The remaining swimmers achieved two 2nd, two 3rd, and three top ten finishes. They were –

In addition to Molly, the next two bet improvements came from Heidi, who reduced her 100m Breaststroke by 3.88 seconds, and Grant, who reduced his 50m Freestyle by 2.33 seconds.

The remaining two swimmers, who finished just outside the top ten were Georgia Johnston (10/O), and Arran McKinlay (10/O)
