Six Fins’ swimmers competed in the Fife Time Trials at the Michael Woods Centre last Sunday. The meet was aimed at those swimmers 12 years and under, who had not been accommodated in the Scottish East District or the previous Fife Time Trials, plus older swimmers who did not qualify for the District Time Trials. All events were contested over 50m and swimmers were allowed to compete in all four individual strokes.

The six swimmers had an excellent outing competing in a total of 22 swims, including 7 where the swimmer was competing in an individual event for the first time in open competition. All swims resulted in PBs which ranged from 2.15 to 17.17 seconds.

Fins top swimmer was Ethan Pate, 8 to 10 years boys, who was placed 1st in all of his four events.

Adam Selbie, 11/12 boys was placed 3rd in both his breaststroke and freestyle; and 4th in both the backstroke and butterfly

Roman Johnston, 8 to 10 boys, competing for the first time, did extremely well to finish 3rd in the breaststroke. His only other swim saw him finish 20th in the Freestyle.

The remaining three swimmers were Caleb Gray (8-10 boys); Grant Wardlaw (15/16 boys); and Irys Blair (11/12 girls), who finished in a variety of placings from 4th to 16th, but all had top 8th placing.

The top 8 finishes from the three swimmers were:

Caleb – 4th – butterfly

Grant – 8th in both the breaststroke and butterfly

Irys – 8th – backstroke.

There were six PBs in double figures with the largest coming from Grant who reduced his previous butterfly time by 17.17 seconds.

The most improved swimmer overall was Irys who reduced her breaststroke by 13.97, butterfly by 12.27, and freestyle by 10.78 seconds. Irys’ backstroke was a first-time competitive swim.

The remaining two PBs, in double figures were recorded by Ethan who reduced his butterfly by 11.25 second and his breaststroke by 11.04 seconds.
