Four Fins’ swimmers were at the Michael Woods Centre last weekend where they competed in the first Round of the Scottish East District Age Group Championships. This round concentrates on the distance events, all 400m or over, and the swimmers had six swims in total.

Top swimmer for Fins was Erin Taylor, 13 years girls, who was Fins’ only medallist, winning silver in her 400m Individual Medley and continued her recent improvement by taking a further 2.55 seconds off her time that she achieved at the REN96 Meet earlier in November.

However, the most improved swimmer was Mark Scott, 13 years boys who gained a 5th place finish in his 800m Freestyle and 6th in his 400m Freestyle. Mark reduced his 800m Freestyle time by 27.28 seconds and his 400m Freestyle time by 19.42 seconds.

There was one other top 10 finish and that came from Arran Stowe, 17 and over boys, in his 400m Individual Medley. Despite a 2.84 second PB Arran just missed out on another top 10 place in his 400m Freestyle by 0.33 seconds, finishing in 11th place.

The remaining swim was from Esme Lee, 13 years girls, who also finished in 11th place in her 400m Freestyle.
