Fins doubled their presence at the first Open Water Event of the year when Arran Stowe, 21 this year, was joined by Nicole Reynolds, 17 this year.

The Scottish East District Open Water Championships were held at Lochore Meadows last Saturday. This was Arran’s fourth year in the Senior Men’s 2k event in which he was the overall winner and therefore won the East District Championship gold medal and trophy for the fourth year in succession. Arran’s time of 25 minutes, 3 seconds was an improvement of 5 minutes, 26 seconds on the same event last year, although this is very much weather dependent. Because he produced the fastest time from all categories in the 2k, Arran was also awarded the Lawson Trophy.

This was also a Scottish Grand Prix event so Arran has got his defence of the title off to a good start scoring a maximum 25 points.

This was Nicole’s first year in the Senior Women’s 2k event and she did exceptionally well to finish 4th overall and runner up in the East District Championships, which she almost won.

The Grand Prix covers both male and female swimmers and since the article appeared in the Fife Free Press and it is now possible to determine the points gained by Nicole in the Women’s events. Nicole finished 5th in the Grand Prix scoring 10 points.
