Fins’ swimmer Erin Taylor was at Ponds Forge Pool, Sheffield, last Sunday where she was one of only two Fife swimmers, the other was from Carnegie, representing the Scottish East District in the Swim England National County Team Championships. The Championships comprise two divisions of 20 teams, based on position achieved at the previous event. Both the Scottish East District and West District qualified for division 1.

Erin competed in the 16/17 years girls 100m breaststroke and swam the first heat of two where she had an excellent swim. At the final turn Erin was in third place but came through strongly in the last 25 metres to win the heat. However, Erin finished third overall as two of the swimmers in the second heat finished just ahead, including Kiera Davidson from City of Glasgow, representing the Scottish West District, who finished 2nd overall just 0.16 of a second ahead of Erin. The times are now ratified and in the Scottish, 17 year old girls 100m breaststroke shortcourse, Kiera is ranked 1st with Erin in 2nd place

Erin’s time of 1 minute 11.25 seconds was a massive 3.15 seconds PB. It is also Erin’s 10th Fins’ club record since January and improved on the previous record set by Sarah Chapman at Glenrothes in March 2007 by 3.04 seconds.

The Scottish East District finished a very credible 5th overall in Division 1, behind Kent, Yorkshire, Northumberland and Durham, and Devon.
