Fins Competitive Swim Club

Scottish top 25 Rankings

The final event in the long course season took place in July, so we are now able to see how well Fins performed during the long course season in terms of the number of swimmers and the number of events which made the top 25 Scottish rankings.

The answer is that 10 swimmers, made a top 25 position in the rankings in 60 events, 6 females and 4 males. 34 of the 60 events were ranked in the top 10.

Overall, the girls did well, although there is always room for improvement, but the boys less so and they will need to push a bit harder in training to catch up.

We are very fortunate to have Ian Lewis still at the club, now in his role as head coach, but as a swimmer in the 1980’s and early 90’s Ian represented Scotland on numerous occasions at Junior. Youth and Senior level. Ian still holds two log course club records and three short course records. It is surely time they were getting beaten.

Please remember that Ian and his coaches can only advise swimmers what they need to do to improve, but there is only one person that can actually make the difference and that is solely down to the swimmer themself – labore et scientia – through hard work and understanding, together with the correct application and plenty of dedication.
