Fins Competitive Swim Club
Scottish Summer Meet 8th to 12th July 2026
Kirkcaldy based Fins Competitive Swim Club had seven swimmers qualify for the Scottish Summer Meet, held at the Aberdeen Sports Village, with two of the swimmers winning eight national age group medals, including two gold.
This was the final National Age Group Competition of the 2026 long course season and involved swimmers from 12 years to 18 years with the 12/13 years and the 17/18 years swum as a double year age group while the 14, 15 and 16 years were swum as single years. The meet attracted a very large entry from both sides of the border with clubs from Shetland in the north down to Devon in the south taking part
Fins’ top swimmer with two medals of all three colours, plus a 4th placing was Millie Whytock, 13 years female. Millie’s gold medals were won in her 100m butterfly and 400m individual medley, where she recorded the largest PB by a Fins’ swimmer of 7.43 seconds. In her 100m butterfly she finished just outsider her PB by six one hundredths of a second.
Her silver medals were won in the 200m individual medley and 200m butterfly, and in her 200m individual medley Millie recorded the third largest PB of 4.49 seconds.
Millie’s bronze medals were won in the 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle, just missing out on a PB in her freestyle by 0.22 seconds.
She also had a 4th place finish in her 200m Backstroke.
The remaining medal, a silver, was won by Lilian Blair, 14 years female, in her 200m individual medley. Lilian qualified for the final in 5th place but she recorded a 1.91 second PB in the final to secure the silver.
Lian’s other swims were a 4th place in her 100m butterfly where she was just 0.13 short of her PB, 6th in her 50m freestyle, where once again she was just short of her PB by 0.48 seconds, 7th in her 100m breaststroke, 9th in her 299m backstroke, 10th in her 200m freestyle, and she was 1st reserve (11th) for the final of the 100m freestyle.
Caleb Gray, 15 years male, was 6th in his 400m freestyle, 15th in his 200m butterfly, and 16th in his 400m individual medley.
Caleb recorded good solid PBs in his 400m freestyle and individual medley, and just missed out in his 200m butterfly by 0.31 seconds.
Ethan Pate, 15 years male, was 8th in both his 400m and 800m freestyle, 2nd reserve (12th) for the final of the 200m butterfly, and 18th in his 100m butterfly.
Harvey Whytock, 16 years male, was 2nd reserve for the final of the 200m butterfly and finished 18th in t6he 100m butterfly.
Elliot Blair, 12 years male, was 13th in his 200m butterfly, 15th in his 200m backstroke, 17th in his 400m freestyle, and 25th in his 100m backstroke.
Elliot recorded the 2nd largest improvement by a Fins’ swimmer of 5.21 seconds He also recorded a small PB in his 200m backstroke and just missed out in his 400m freestyle by just 0.11 seconds.
Fins remaining swimmer was Cole Gray, 14 years male, who was 16th in his 200m butterfly, 17th in his 400m freestyle, and 18th in his 400m individual medley, recording small PBs in his butterfly and freestyle.
Overall, some really good swims from Fins’ swimmers in what was a very tough competition.
That may be the end of the domestic long course season but the Commonwealth Games Swimming gets underway at Tollcross, Glasgow on Friday morning 24th July. Fins Competitive Swim Club, will be represented, in Glasgow, by Lindsay Lewis in her capacity as Scottish Commonwealth Games Aquatics Team Manager.
