The Glenrothes Spring meet is actually two separate meets, with a level 3 meet for younger, less experienced swimmers, on the Saturday, and a level 3 meet for older more experienced swimmers on the Sunday.
What is the difference? Apart from the age groups and distance of some events probably the biggest difference is that the entry requirement for the level 3 meet is a little less stringent.
Level 2

14 Fins’ swimmers competed in the level 2 meet in 25 swims and recorded 20 PBs, which gives a good improvement rate of 80%, and 6 of the swims made a difference to Fins’ all-time top 50 rankings.
Top swimmer for Fins was Lilian Blair, 14 years female, who won yhe 200m individual medley and 100m butterfly, and was 2nd in the 100m backstroke. A 4.16 second PB in her 100m backstroke saw Lilian move up the rankings from 50th to 30th.
Fins’ only other winner was Millie Whytock, 13 years female, in the 100m backstroke. Millie also finished 4th in the 200m individual medley, where a 4.06 second PB moves her from 49th to 32nd. Millie also recorded a 3.79 second PB in her 100m backstroke which means she moves from 36th to 22nd.
Irys Blair, 15 years female, didn’t quite secure a win but had three 2nd place finishes in the 200m individual medley, 100m butterfly, and 100m backstroke. This was a fairly successful meet with only 5 swims failing to produce a PB, and two of them were the winners of their event, and another two were in the top 10 finishes.
Level 3

It was good to see a number of novice league swimmers entering this meet. It would be quite a different experience to the league with a lot more swimmers in each event and from clubs outwith Fife.
Fifteen swimmers competed in 27 swims recording 24 PBs, including first time swims. Eight of the swims were by swimmers who had already competed in that particular event.
Very encouraging is that all the first time swims were faster than the swimmer’s entry time irrespective of where they finished.
Top swimmer for Fins was Mark Sinilov, 12 years male, who was 4th in the 50m butterfly, 9th in the 50 freestyle, and 12th in the 50m backstroke.
Next, was Elizabeth Janovska, 11 years female, who was 5th in the 50m butterfly, and 8th in the 50m backstroke.
Making up the top three swimmers was Lacey Barrett, 12 years female, who was 5th in the 50m freestyle, and 12th in the 50m breaststroke. Lacey swam the 50m breaststroke in the Fife novice league and reduced her time with a PB of 3.86 seconds, which was the 3rd largest by a Fins swimmer.
Cain Gray, 9 years male, was in the 50m backstroke, 10th in the 25m butterfly, and 38th in the 100m individual medley.
Luke Gilhooley, 12 years male, was 12 in the 50m freestyle. Luke recorded a PB of 0.84 seconds.
Stanley Glass, 11 years male, was 15th in the 50m freestyle.
Abby Crawford, 9 years female, was 29th in the 50m breaststroke.

Ella Robertson, 10 years female, was 39th in the 50m breaststroke, and 67th in the 50m freestyle.
Jessica Lee, 12 years female, was 40th in the 50m backstroke, and 54th in the 50m breaststroke.
Sophie McKinlay, 11 years female, was 47th in the 50m freestyle, and 48th in the 50m breaststroke.
Alix Jack, 9 years female, 54th in the 50m breaststroke, and 70th in the 50m freestyle.
Emelia Needham, 9 years female, was 63rd in the 50m freestyle, and 64th in the 50mbreaststroke.
Well done to the younger swimmers, that was a very positive result consider the lack of competitive swimming.
Where a swimmer is swimming an event for the first time their coach will enter them with an estimated time that s/he thinks the swimmer can achieve. In this meet all the first time swimmers exceeded expectation and just for interest the top four swimmers were –
Mark Sinilov, whose 50m butterfly was 23.93 seconds faster than expected.
Ella Robertson, whose 50m breaststroke was 13.74 seconds faster than expected.
Elizabeth Janovska, whose 50m butterfly was 10.41 seconds faster than expected, and
Sophie McKinlay, whose 50m breaststroke was 10.31 seconds faster than expected.
A very good start to your competitive swimmer. and just a reminder the only person you really want to beat is yourself.
